Building on the success of last year’s EdHeroes Global Forum on Cultural Heritage in Education, the global education network EdHeroes is launching an innovative new initiative—the EdHeroes Cultural Heritage in Education Committee. This initiative aims to embed cultural heritage into education worldwide, fostering cross-border collaboration to preserve and promote cultural traditions, languages, and histories as an integral part of learning for future generations.
“Rapid erosion of traditional culture has affected the future of childhood, leaving society in a moribund state. The Committee stands for global solidarity for revitalising cultural biodiversity,” said Dr Mahendra Mishra, UNESCO’s International Mother Language Award 2023 Laureate, National Advisor of LLF and EdHeroes Cultural Heritage in Education Committee member.
At the core of this initiative lie six foundational values: Unity in Diversity, Sustainability of Cultural Heritage, Equitable Education for All, Lifelong Learning, Innovation with Purpose, and Global Collaboration. These guiding principles shape impactful global projects that not only celebrate cultural diversity but also tackle shared educational challenges worldwide.
To bring this vision to life, EdHeroes is launching several key programs, including:
- Global Education Exchange Program (GEEP) – Facilitating cross-cultural learning experiences.
- Heritage Preservation & Revitalization Projects – Ensuring the protection and revival of cultural traditions.
- Community-Driven Curriculum Development – Encouraging local communities to shape educational content.
- World Citizen Learning – Promoting global awareness and intercultural understanding.
- EdHeroes Action Week – Mobilizing educators, students, and organizations to take action for cultural heritage in education.
These initiatives create a dynamic learning environment that fosters mutual understanding, celebrates cultural heritage, and strengthens international collaboration.
EdHeroes invites governments, non-profits, educators, businesses, and community leaders to join this global movement in preserving cultural heritage through education. By working together, we can build a more inclusive and sustainable future, where education serves as a bridge between cultures, fostering unity, respect, and shared understanding.
