
MSC Cruises, ranked as the third largest cruise operator globally, made a significant announcement today, revealing that Drew Barrymore has been chosen as the Godmother for their latest U.S. flagship, MSC World America. The inaugural event will see Barrymore alongside actor Orlando Bloom, who appears with her in the company’s recent “Let’s Holiday” campaign, which premiered during the Big Game. The ceremony is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, April 9 at MSC’s newly constructed Miami Cruise Terminal, set to be the world’s largest.

The celebration will be marked by a gala dinner and entertainment, attended by the international media, esteemed guests, and travel advisors. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the ship’s numerous amenities. Following the naming event, the MSC World America will embark on a three-day inaugural voyage to the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ exclusive island paradise in The Bahamas, featured prominently in the “Let’s Holiday” campaign.
During the ship’s stay at Ocean Cay, the MSC Foundation will inaugurate its new Marine Conservation Center dedicated to marine preservation. This center is a part of the Super Coral Program and will function as a research and education facility for scientists and scholars. This initiative is focused on revitalizing coral reefs damaged by climate change.
Regarding MSC World America, the ship represents a fusion of European elegance and American comfort and is equipped with:
- Seven distinct zones catering to different passenger preferences
- Nineteen eateries, including the unique Eataly restaurant found only on this ship
- Eighteen bars and lounges with new additions such as All Stars Sports Bar and The Loft comedy club
- The Harbour, a new family-oriented outdoor space featuring the Cliffhanger swing ride over water, a ropes course, water park, playground, relaxation zones, and quick dining options
- The World Promenade for outdoor shopping and dining with stunning sea views and one of the longest dry slides on the ocean
- The three-story World Galleria, alive with a variety of bars, shops, and dining options
The ship offers unparalleled luxury in its exclusive area, boasting 24-hour butler service, private access via keycard, and personal amenities. MSC World America’s itineraries from Miami will frequently visit Ocean Cay, known for its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, providing a host of activities suitable for all ages. Destinations include the Eastern Caribbean stops at Puerto Plata, San Juan, and Ocean Cay, and Western Caribbean routes touching Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatan, and Ocean Cay.
