Known as Canada’s Food Island, Prince Edward Island continues to redefine its hospitality and culinary offerings, giving travelers exciting new ways to experience its coastal beauty. This summer, PEI invites visitors to indulge in locally inspired flavors, immersive experiences, and a stunning new oceanfront hotel. Here’s a look at what’s new on PEI in 2025.
The Hotel Acadia at Blackbush Beach Resort
Opening in late fall 2024, Blackbush Beach Resort is PEI’s newest coastal getaway, offering breathtaking views of Tracadie Bay on the island’s north shore. The resort is home to The Hotel Acadia, a boutique hotel with 30 luxurious rooms that provide spectacular vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. Guests can also enjoy a selection of charming cottages and beach villas. The hotel draws inspiration from the original Hotel Acadia, which operated from the late 1800s until it was destroyed by fire in 1906.
This new retreat offers a wealth of amenities, including direct beach access, a year-round outdoor “Oasis” area with a secluded swim spa, sauna, and hot tubs. Inside, the hotel boasts a peaceful library where guests can unwind with a book. A yoga and Pilates studio on the beach level offers weekly classes designed to nurture both body and mind. For business travelers, the hotel features flexible meeting and conference spaces.
Ada Culinary Studio
In Charlottetown, PEI’s capital, Ada Culinary Studio brings a fresh, dynamic twist to the island’s food scene. This innovative venue hosts immersive dining experiences and seasonal pop-up events with guest chefs, sommeliers, and mixologists, offering a blend of creative cuisine and exceptional flavor pairings.
Ada’s menu is rooted in locally sourced ingredients, featuring dishes crafted with seasonal produce from the island. Known for its popular grab-and-go counter, Ada is particularly famous for its weekly donut creations, which frequently sell out, making it a must-visit spot for quick, delicious bites.
Reddin’s Speakeasy
For a taste of PEI’s rich prohibition history, head to Reddin’s, the island’s first and only speakeasy, located in Charlottetown. The venue occupies the former Reddin’s Drug Store, a historic establishment that played a key role during PEI’s alcohol ban, which lasted until 1948.
Today, the space has been reimagined as a vintage-inspired speakeasy, where the old-world charm blends seamlessly with a modern lounge atmosphere. The intimate, dark setting is perfect for enjoying handcrafted cocktails like the Reddin’s Remedy, made with caramel chili syrup, complex citrus cordial, and pineapple and dill juice, or the Dapper Dan, featuring turmeric oil and toasted fennel garnish. Guests must know the secret password to enter, adding an element of exclusivity to the experience.
Deep Roots Distillery Gin Making Workshop
At Deep Roots Distillery, craft cocktail enthusiasts can roll up their sleeves and learn the art of gin-making in an immersive, hands-on workshop. During this three-hour course, participants will explore the distillation process, using more than 30 locally sourced ingredients and botanicals. Under the expert guidance of master distillers, guests will create their own custom blend of gin, infused with the unique flavors of PEI. At the end of the workshop, participants will leave with two full-size bottles of their personalized gin creation.
PEI continues to offer visitors a rich blend of history, culture, and culinary delights, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a unique and unforgettable experience in 2025.
