The Moroccan National Tourist Office hosted a promotional event in Beijing last week, announcing the resumption of direct flights between Beijing and Casablanca, starting in January 2025. This initiative is part of Morocco’s strategy to attract more Chinese tourists by showcasing the country’s rich tourism offerings and vibrant cultural heritage.
At the event, Abdelkader El Ansari, Morocco’s Ambassador to China, emphasized the long-standing friendship between the two nations and highlighted the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
Hicham Bellaziz, Chief Representative of the Moroccan National Tourist Office in Beijing, presented Morocco’s unique attractions, from its stunning Mediterranean coastline and expansive Sahara Desert to its ancient cities and diverse culture. He emphasized that Morocco offers experiences tailored to a wide range of travelers.
As part of Morocco’s preparations for the 2030 World Cup, the country has made significant improvements in infrastructure, tourist capacity, and hospitality services. The event showcased Morocco’s efforts to attract more luxury hotels, develop cultural venues, and host festive celebrations.
With the expansion of China’s outbound tourism market, Morocco sees great potential. Bellaziz noted the steady increase in Chinese visitors to Morocco in recent years, reflecting a growing interest in the destination.
To further engage with Chinese tourists, the Moroccan National Tourist Office has launched official accounts on WeChat and Xiaohongshu, and plans to expand to other social media platforms. Additionally, Bellaziz announced the launch of an online learning platform designed for Chinese travel service providers to better understand Morocco’s tourism offerings.
He emphasized Morocco’s commitment to fostering stronger collaboration with the Chinese tourism industry to provide Chinese travelers with a high-quality and seamless travel experience.
