A low-cost airline is set to broaden its operations at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, introducing two brand-new destinations while reviving six previously offered routes.
Starting in early May, travelers will have the option to fly directly to Charleston and Milwaukee, adding to the airline’s growing list of destinations. This move follows last year’s expansion, which introduced nonstop flights to Boston and Portland, Oregon.
In addition to the new routes, the airline is restoring service to Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Raleigh-Durham, and San Antonio. With these additions, the number of destinations served from BWI will rise to 21, compared to 16 the previous year. The airline has consistently ranked as one of the airport’s largest carriers, reinforcing its role in connecting travelers across the country.
Flights to Charleston, Chicago, Milwaukee, Raleigh-Durham, and San Antonio will be available three times a week, while service to Charlotte, Detroit, and Nashville will operate six times weekly. These scheduling adjustments aim to provide passengers with more flexibility while maintaining affordability.
The airline’s expansion aligns with increasing demand for budget-friendly domestic travel, particularly as more passengers seek cost-effective alternatives. By reintroducing popular routes and launching new ones, the airline is catering to both business and leisure travelers looking for greater connectivity without breaking the bank.
In addition to its growth plans, the airline is preparing to exit bankruptcy after receiving court approval for a restructuring strategy. As part of the agreement, it must generate $350 million through equity sales. A proposed merger with another low-cost carrier was turned down, leading the company to focus on financial recovery through independent means.
Despite adding new routes, the airline is expected to reduce its total available seating capacity by 16% this spring, according to industry analysts. The company remains focused on stabilizing operations while continuing to offer accessible travel options for passengers nationwide.
