Bhavani Island
Andhra Pradesh

The city and its surrounding regions came alive with festivities as locals and visitors enthusiastically celebrated the sacred Telugu month of Karthika through Vanabhojanam, a tradition of outdoor garden feasts.

Bhavani Island, nestled on the Krishna River, became the top destination for these celebrations, attracting massive crowds for family picnics and cultural events.

Karthika is deeply cherished for its emphasis on connecting with nature, inspiring families to gather outdoors, offer prayers to trees, and share vegetarian meals together.

A hub of tourism in Vijayawada, Bhavani Island drew thousands of attendees who took advantage of special packages curated for the occasion. Enhancing the festive spirit, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department organized boat rides and offered freshly cooked meals, creating an unforgettable experience for the visitors.

At the same time, Nagaravana in Kothuru Tadepalli welcomed a significant number of visitors. To ensure safety, the Forest Department deployed snake rescue teams and enforced restrictions on entry to protected areas.

Meanwhile, the historic Kondapalli Fort experienced a lively weekend as special arrangements were made to handle the surge in tourist activity.

Addressing environmental challenges, the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) introduced measures to manage waste generated by visitors. Despite these efforts, some individuals were seen carelessly discarding plastic and thermocol plates. Rising to the occasion, youth volunteers from nearby colleges organized clean-up drives at tourist locations and actively promoted awareness about maintaining cleanliness in natural spaces.

These festive celebrations not only uphold cultural traditions but also serve as a reminder of the need for sustainable tourism. The collaborative efforts of authorities and volunteers emphasize the importance of protecting nature while enjoying its wonders.
