The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) is showcasing its offerings at the Tourism Expo Japan 2024 (TEJ) from September 26 to 29 in Tokyo, Japan. Attendees at Azerbaijan’s booth will discover a wide range of travel experiences, including cultural heritage, UNESCO World Heritage sites, hiking opportunities, wellness retreats, and options for business events.

Visitors to the booth can engage with ATB representatives and industry partners to learn more about Azerbaijan as a travel destination and explore potential collaboration opportunities. Notably, Tadashi Shimura, Counsellor of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), and Masahiko Inada, Director of Outbound Travel Promotion at JATA, met with ATB officials to discuss the tourism landscape’s latest developments and growth prospects. Several prominent Japanese tourism agencies have also shown interest in strengthening tourism connections, engaging with ATB representatives to exchange ideas and explore opportunities. Highlighting the event’s importance, Gursel Ismayilzada, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Japan, visited the booth, symbolizing the strong bilateral relations between the two nations.

In recent years, Azerbaijan has become an attractive destination for Asian travelers, thanks to its convenient flight connections, streamlined visa processes, and reputation as a vibrant cultural and business hub. Japanese tourists benefit from the option to obtain an e-visa either in advance or upon arrival at the airport.

At the booth, attendees will be introduced to Azerbaijan’s diverse attractions, which include the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Baku’s Old City, the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, the Sheki Historic Centre, the newly recognized Khinalig village, and the ‘Köç Yolu’ Transhumance Route. The cosmopolitan capital, Baku, offers a rich tapestry of experiences, from museums and galleries to trendy bars serving local wines and delicacies, as well as an extensive array of restaurants featuring both traditional and international cuisines, alongside numerous MICE opportunities. With its top-notch resources and world-class infrastructure, Azerbaijan is well-equipped to host events of any scale. The country boasts a 5-star rated Baku International Airport by Skytrax, numerous chain hotels, and versatile venues such as the iconic Flame Towers, Baku Congress Centre, and the Heydar Aliyev Centre, which hosts museums, exhibition complexes, and multimedia conference rooms for international conferences and events.
