The 32nd edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from April 28 to May 1, 2025.
Supported by Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the event will bring together global leaders in the aviation and tourism sectors to discuss the theme, “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity.”
Focus on Sustainable Aviation and Innovation
A key topic at this year’s ATM will be the growth of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which, according to the International Aviation Transport Association (IATA), is projected to double production to 2.1 million tonnes in 2025. Airlines such as Emirates and Etihad have already implemented SAF to reduce CO2 emissions on routes to major destinations, including London, Paris, and Singapore.
Technological advancements will also feature prominently. Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the aviation industry, from optimizing flight routes and tracking weather to managing airport operations efficiently. Airports like London Heathrow and Gatwick have adopted AI-powered technologies to enhance air traffic control and turnaround management. These innovations align with UAE’s focus on leveraging technology for sustainable development as highlighted in government policies.
Aviation Sector’s Record Growth
IATA estimates that aviation industry revenues will surpass USD 1 trillion in 2025, with passenger numbers reaching 5.2 billion, a 6.7% increase over 2024. The number of flights is expected to rise to 40 million. Business travel will also rebound, with 42% of corporations forecasting increased spending compared to the previous year, according to Flight Centre Corporate.
ATM will debut its new feature, IBTM@ATM, spotlighting corporate travel’s role in fostering global connections. Exhibitors such as Emirates, flydubai, and Air Charter Service will showcase innovations that support the growing demand for aviation services.
Evolving Airport Experiences
The concept of “gate escape” is transforming airports into hubs of luxury and entertainment. Modern travelers, particularly Gen Z and millennials, are drawn to airports offering indulgent experiences, from sleep pods and spas to Michelin-starred dining. This trend reflects findings from Booking.com, which note that 43% of young travelers consider airport amenities when choosing destinations.
Comprehensive Discussions on Connectivity
Dedicated sessions, including “Connecting the Future of Travel: Aviation, Cruise & Rail” on the Global Stage, will explore how sustainable developments and transformative projects can enhance regional and international connectivity.
Strategic Partnerships and Sustainability Goals
ATM 2025 is hosted in collaboration with strategic partners, including Emirates (Official Airline Partner) and IHG Hotels & Resorts (Official Hotel Partner). The event will also focus on sustainability, extending carbon footprint analysis to indirect emissions and highlighting green initiatives in aviation and tourism, in line with UAE’s commitment to achieving net-zero goals.
