Assam boosts tourism and transport with Vivanta, Guwahati expansion and new Automated Driver Testing Tracks.
In an effort to boost tourism and enhance transportation efficiency, the Assam Cabinet has greenlit several key projects, including the growth of Vivanta, Guwahati, and the creation of Automated Driver Testing Tracks (ADTT) throughout the state.
To improve the region’s hospitality offerings and draw more visitors, the Cabinet has approved land allocation to the Tourism Department for the expansion and modernization of Vivanta, Guwahati. This effort is designed to boost Guwahati’s appeal as a leading travel destination.
Moreover, the Assam Cabinet has sanctioned the creation of Accredited Driver Training Centres (ADTC), equipped with Automated Driver Testing Tracks (ADTT), to modernize and standardize the driving license process. This move aims to reduce manual intervention, enhancing the efficiency and fairness of the process.
Presently, construction of five ADTCs is in progress at Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Biswanath, Barpeta, and Kamrup Rural, with expected operational start in the next five months. Further, there are plans to set up at least one training centre in each Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC), with the Transport Department tasked with developing comprehensive guidelines for this initiative.
