Amtrak has rolled out significant enhancements to its mobile application, streamlining travel processes and heightening convenience for its users. Compatible with both iOS and Android platforms, these updates introduce several key features aimed at enriching the customer experience and adding greater value as travelers plan their routes.

“Understanding our customers are constantly on the go, Amtrak is committed to continually improving and expanding our mobile platform,” said Amtrak Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Eliot Hamlisch. “We’ve listened to our customers and improved the Amtrak app’s design and functionality for a better experience. These new updates make it even easier for customers to focus on their journey, with more convenient access to tickets, train status, and more while they’re on-the-go.”

Key features of the updated Amtrak app include:

Real-Time Train Updates and Schedule Changes: Travelers can now conveniently access real-time updates on train statuses. This feature is automatically displayed for active trips within 24 hours, ensuring passengers are well-informed about any schedule changes as soon as they open their reservation screen.

Interactive Train Tracking: The app provides a station-to-station train tracker, illustrating the train’s current position relative to upcoming stations. This tracking feature is also accessible on the Amtrak website.

Advance Seat Selection: Passengers have the opportunity to select their seats in advance during the reservation process. This option is available on trains with designated seating arrangements, including all Acela trains and Business Class on select services like the Northeast Regional, Palmetto, Vermonter, and Carolinian.

Centralized Trip Management: The new ‘My Trips’ tab allows travelers to manage and view their active, upcoming, and past trips from a unified interface, enhancing ease of access and organization.

Simplified Trip Modifications: The app now supports modifications to parts of a trip directly through the user interface, offering flexibility while maintaining access to the best fares.

Enhanced Home Screen Design: Responding to customer feedback, Amtrak has redesigned the home screen to separate ticket information from promotional content, streamlining user interactions.

This update is a core part of Amtrak’s ‘Retrain Travel’ initiative, aimed at transforming travel norms and elevating passenger experiences on America’s railroads, making every journey an exceptional one.
