Allegiant Airlines has introduced a vibrant new aircraft, celebrating the marine life and natural beauty of the Sarasota-Bradenton area. Inspired by the region’s iconic turtles, manatees, and coastal charm, this stunning addition enhances the travel experience at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ).

The new plane debuted alongside the grand opening of SRQ’s newly constructed Concourse A, a project that reflects the airport’s rapid growth. The aircraft, an Airbus A320 adorned with a teal-to-deep-blue gradient and a vibrant orange sun on its tail, took its inaugural flight to Akron-Canton Airport, showcasing its unique design.

Allegiant Airlines has been a driving force behind SRQ’s expansion. With 35 routes originating from SRQ, Allegiant operates more flights from this airport than any other in its network. Florida remains a significant focus for the airline, with nearly 60% of its routes connecting travelers to the Sunshine State. The newly introduced aircraft is one of seven custom designs in Allegiant’s fleet, highlighting the strong partnership between the airline, SRQ, and the Sarasota-Bradenton region.

The opening of Concourse A, a $72 million addition, is a milestone for SRQ, meeting the demands of its growing passenger numbers and increasing airline activity. Allegiant’s role in this growth has been pivotal, cementing the relationship between the airport and the airline.

Despite the celebratory atmosphere, some challenges remain for Allegiant. Pilots employed by the airline held a peaceful demonstration outside SRQ, expressing concerns over stalled contract negotiations. The pilots’ union has been working toward an updated agreement after their previous contract expired four years ago. Talks continue under the oversight of the National Mediation Board, with pilots prepared to take further action if necessary.

The new aircraft and concourse signify a bright future for SRQ and its partnership with Allegiant, even as labor negotiations work toward resolution. Passengers can now experience the region’s natural beauty not just on the ground but also in the skies, making every flight a tribute to Sarasota-Bradenton’s unique charm.
