Latvian national airline airBaltic and Pratt & Whitney have entered a long-term EngineWise Comprehensive Maintenance Services agreement to support the airline’s growing fleet of GTF engines. The partnership is designed to align maintenance costs with the utilization of airBaltic’s engines, providing more transparency and predictability for the airline. Pratt & Whitney is a subsidiary of RTX (NYSE: RTX).
“Pratt & Whitney has been a trusted partner for airBaltic since we became the global launch operator of the Airbus A220-300 in 2016,” said Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic. “The A220’s PW1500G GTF engines have reduced fuel burn per seat by 25%, driving significant cost savings. This agreement ensures our continued growth as we move towards a fleet of 100 A220-300 aircraft by 2030. We are excited for many more years of successful collaboration with Pratt & Whitney.”
The 17-year agreement provides long-term support for airBaltic’s expanding route network. Rick Deurloo, President of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, added: “We are committed to optimizing airBaltic’s fleet performance. The GTF engine offers industry-leading fuel efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, and a smaller noise footprint. Together, we aim to enhance air travel while minimizing environmental impact.”
