Agoda’s 2025 Sustainable Travel Survey reveals that over 76% of Thai travelers prioritize sustainability when planning their trips for 2025, surpassing the 68% average of travelers across Asia.
The survey, which gathered responses from more than 6,000 participants across 11 Asian countries, highlights the growing trend of sustainable travel in Asia, with a focus on authentic and purposeful experiences as well as off-peak travel.
Authentic experiences are becoming a driving force behind more sustainable travel choices among Thai tourists. Over a quarter of respondents express interest in authentic tourism, while 25% aim to support local economies through their travels. Notably, 11% of Thai travelers are motivated by personal values and beliefs when making sustainable travel decisions, reflecting a broader movement towards responsible and impactful tourism.
The survey also emphasizes the shift towards off-peak travel as a key sustainable choice for Thai travelers, with 22% opting for less crowded travel periods to reduce their environmental impact. Additionally, 14% are selecting eco-friendly accommodations with sustainability certifications, and 17% are bringing reusable items to minimize waste.
