A brand-new hangar dedicated to General Aviation operations has officially opened at Katowice Airport, further enhancing the facility’s capacity to serve private and business aviation. Strategically positioned in the southwestern zone of the airport near apron number four, the expansive structure adds substantial infrastructure to the airport’s general aviation offerings.

Spanning a total floor area of five thousand four hundred fifty-two square meters, the hangar boasts impressive dimensions—forty-one meters in depth, eleven meters in height, and a record-breaking width of one hundred thirty-three meters. Its width establishes it as the widest hangar facility currently available at Katowice Airport, marking a significant milestone in the airport’s infrastructure development.

Designed with versatility in mind, the hangar features three separate operational sections, each capable of accommodating a range of aircraft types. The facility supports business jets classified under aircraft codes A through C, as well as helicopter storage, making it a highly functional and adaptable space for various aviation needs.

The construction project was executed by PROMUS sp. z o.o., which served as the lead contractor responsible for the full development and delivery of the hangar. To commemorate the completion, the airport hosted a dedicated showcase featuring an aircraft from Gulfstream Aerospace, one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of luxury business jets.

Katowice Airport’s development of this hangar is part of a broader strategy led by the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A. – GTL S.A.), the airport’s managing authority. Within the passenger terminals, two Fast Track lanes have been installed to expedite security procedures, and two exclusive Business Lounges are available for added comfort and convenience. The Business Customer Department at GTL S.A. provides a range of specialized assistance, including private transfers between terminals and aircraft, check-in support, and other concierge-level services designed to meet the expectations of corporate clients.

In addition, GTL S.A. holds the necessary certifications and authorizations for providing ground handling services for General Aviation flights, ensuring that both infrastructure and operational support are in place to meet the needs of discerning private aircraft operators.
