Hilton has revealed plans to bring its lifestyle brand, Tempo by Hilton, to Belfast City Centre, marking the brand’s first international location outside the United States. The hotel is being developed through a franchise agreement with Loughview Leisure Group, a renowned regional hospitality operator. Slated to open by late 2026, the property will transform a currently unused office building in central Belfast into a dynamic hub for next-generation travelers.
This move underscores Hilton’s strategic growth in Northern Ireland, nearly three decades after its initial entry into the market. The Tempo by Hilton Belfast City Centre joins a growing portfolio of 56 Tempo hotels either open or under development globally, including upcoming 2025 openings in San Diego, Nashville, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Major Growth for Hilton in Northern Ireland
The launch of Tempo in Belfast coincides with Hilton’s wider expansion strategy in the region. The company is on track to double its room capacity across Northern Ireland within the next 12 months, thanks to three upcoming properties set to open in 2025:
- The Marcus Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
- DoubleTree by Hilton Belfast City Ten Square
- DoubleTree by Hilton Derry-Londonderry
By the end of 2026, Hilton will have increased its brand presence in the country from three to five distinct offerings, serving both leisure and corporate travelers.
Nick Smart, vice president, development, UK and Ireland, Hilton, said, “Northern Ireland has a rich heritage and rapidly growing international appeal. We’re committed to ensuring that every traveller has access to a high-quality hotel to suit their needs – from business travellers and locals who want to explore what’s on their doorstep, to adventurous global visitors looking to experience everything this country has to offer. This latest brand entry is a significant milestone, and we’re delighted to work with partners like Loughview Leisure Group who bring a wealth of local experience and share our commitment to providing exceptional accommodation to suit every traveller.”
Tailored for the Ambitious Modern Traveler
The 144-room Tempo by Hilton Belfast City Centre is designed to cater to the needs of experience-driven, health-conscious travelers. Signature Tempo features will include:
- Spacious rooms with a dedicated “Get Ready Zone” featuring a well-lit vanity, open wardrobe, and custom work desk
- Wellness-focused amenities, including In-Room Fitness Gear Kits for customized workouts
- Power Up/Power Down experiences, offering energizing and relaxing routines, enhanced by a partnership with the Calm app
- Origins-branded, naturally derived bathroom products
The hotel’s state-of-the-art fitness centre will house equipment from Technogym, Precor, or Life Fitness, complete with hydration stations and space for circuit training.
Prime Central Location for Leisure and Business Travelers
Nestled just steps from the Cathedral Quarter and Belfast City Hall, the new Tempo property will place guests within easy reach of the city’s best cultural, business, and entertainment venues. Its central location ensures smooth access to both George Best Belfast City Airport (7-minute drive) and Belfast International Airport (25-minute drive), making it a strong contender for weekend visitors and corporate stays alike.
Chris Kearney, group finance director, Loughview Leisure Group, which also owns the recently renovated DoubleTree by Hilton Belfast Templepatrick and upcoming DoubleTree by Hilton Belfast City Ten Square, said, “We take great pride in driving investment into Belfast and the surrounding area. As we look to further shape the city’s hospitality scene, we are delighted to partner with Hilton, increasing Northern Ireland’s global appeal and pioneering new brands like Tempo by Hilton to attract new guests looking to experience everything Belfast has to offer.”
