The GSTC played an active role in the M.I.C.E Intelligence & Innovation Summit 2025, held on March 4 at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel in Thailand. This summit delved into the pivotal role of sustainability in transforming the future of the meetings and events sector.
During the event, Randy Durband, CEO of the GSTC, delivered a compelling keynote on the Vision Stage, titled “Destination Next: Crafting Tomorrow’s Sustainable Business Events.” Durband underscored the significance of the GSTC MICE Criteria (for Venues, Event Organizers, and Events & Exhibitions), which have been developed as global sustainability benchmarks for the MICE industry. These criteria aim to foster a unified approach to sustainable tourism within the sector worldwide.
“Sustainability in the M.I.C.E industry is not just a goal; it’s an opportunity to redefine how we connect, collaborate, and create impact. By adopting global standards, we provide a pathway that, if followed, will ensure that every event contributes to a better future for destinations and the people who call them home,” says Randy Durband, CEO of GSTC. “As the host of the GSTC Global Conference in 2026, Phuket will stand as a beacon of inspiration, demonstrating how destinations can innovate, collaborate, and drive meaningful change for a more resilient and sustainable tomorrow.”
Looking ahead, the GSTC2026 Global Conference will be held in Phuket, Thailand, in 2026. This event will bring together global leaders, innovators, and key stakeholders in sustainable tourism to explore emerging strategies, innovations, and best practices that will shape the future of the industry.
