In 2026, the newly rebranded luxury train, Canyon Spirit, formerly known as Rocky Mountaineer, will introduce a captivating route expansion from the Rockies to the Red Rocks that now embraces Salt Lake City, Utah. The extended journey will span three days, linking Denver, Colorado, to Salt Lake City, offering a picturesque adventure across America’s Southwest.
Since its inception in 2021, Canyon Spirit has been committed to showcasing the majestic landscapes of the Southwest, featuring dramatic river canyons, iconic red rock formations, and the winding Colorado River. The new route promises a unique three-day voyage with overnight halts in the scenic towns of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Moab, Utah, allowing travelers to soak in the local charm and beauty.
“We could not be more excited to bring our Canyon Spirit train to Salt Lake City, and to expand our Rockies to the Red Rocks route further into the beautiful state of Utah,” said Tristan Armstrong, CEO, Armstrong Collective, Canyon Spirit’s parent company. “Although the name of our train is changing, our world-class service and onboard experience will remain the same, and we look forward to sharing the beauty of the American Southwest with even more guests from across the United States and around the world.”
Starting in 2026, this route will complement the existing two-day journey between Denver and Moab. The added day will cover the mountainous terrains of eastern Utah and the expansive views of the Great Basin, culminating in the bustling cityscape of Salt Lake City.
Passengers will enjoy luxury accommodations, exceptional service, and a culinary experience that highlights local flavors and ingredients, accompanied by regional beverages. The journey is not just about travel but an immersive experience with detailed narratives about the history and culture of the regions traversed.
This enhanced three-day Rockies to the Red Rocks Extension will commence its service on April 21, 2026. It will operate weekly, featuring departures from Denver heading west and from Salt Lake City heading east. Pricing for this all-inclusive rail experience, which includes stays in Glenwood Springs and Moab, begins at $2,123 USD plus tax per person.
