Air India Express launches direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Ghaziabad and Port Blair, enhancing travel convenience, tourism, and economic growth in India.
Bhubaneswar is taking a significant leap in enhancing its air connectivity, with new direct flights linking the city to Ghaziabad and Port Blair. This latest expansion aims to streamline travel for passengers while fueling economic growth and tourism in the region. The initiative, spearheaded by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), aligns with the broader vision of transforming Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) into a major aviation hub.
Daily Direct Flights to Ghaziabad and Port Blair
Starting March 30, 2025, Air India Express will introduce daily flights connecting Bhubaneswar to Ghaziabad and Port Blair. This strategic move is part of Odisha’s new destination policy, which focuses on strengthening domestic air routes and providing seamless travel options for business, tourism, and personal trips.
With these new routes, travelers from Bhubaneswar will enjoy direct access to two key destinations—Ghaziabad, an emerging business hub near Delhi, and Port Blair, a gateway to the pristine Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The increased flight frequency will also support professionals, entrepreneurs, and tourists looking for efficient travel options.
Strengthening Odisha’s Flight Network
The latest expansion builds upon the Odisha government’s recent efforts to boost air travel. In January, Bhubaneswar welcomed direct flights to Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, and Patna, enhancing connectivity across India. Additionally, flights from Veer Surendra Sai Airport (VSSA) in Jharsuguda now provide direct links to Hyderabad, Raipur, and Lucknow.
With the addition of Ghaziabad and Port Blair, Bhubaneswar is rapidly cementing its position as a crucial aviation center, ensuring faster and more accessible travel options for both residents and visitors.
Driving Tourism and Economic Growth
Welcoming the initiative, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continued support in advancing Odisha’s aviation sector. He highlighted how improved air connectivity plays a pivotal role in tourism, trade, and economic development.
The availability of daily direct flights will attract more travelers to Odisha, fostering growth in hospitality, commerce, and investment. As business opportunities expand and tourism flourishes, Bhubaneswar is set to strengthen its presence as a key travel and economic hub in India.
With the government’s dedicated efforts to enhance air infrastructure, Bhubaneswar is on the fast track to becoming a thriving gateway for domestic and international travel. The launch of these new flights marks a significant milestone in the city’s journey toward greater connectivity and economic prosperity.
