Mexico’s luxury scene expands as Minor Hotels unveils Tivoli Mérida Residences, a five-star retreat in Paseo Montejo, set to open in early 2027.

Minor Hotels, a global leader in hospitality ownership and management, is set to introduce its esteemed Tivoli Hotels & Resorts brand to Mexico with the launch of Tivoli Mérida Residences. This milestone venture, scheduled to debut in early 2027, marks a significant expansion for Minor Hotels in Latin America, adding to Tivoli’s existing presence in Brazil.

Nestled in the heart of Mérida’s prestigious Paseo Montejo district, the five-star Tivoli Mérida Residences will seamlessly blend luxury with heritage. This sought-after area, renowned for its colonial charm and economic significance in the Yucatán Peninsula, offers an ideal backdrop for the upscale development.

An Exclusive Urban Retreat in Mérida

Strategically positioned near Mérida International Airport, the upcoming Tivoli Mérida Residences will feature 69 private branded residences, providing a sophisticated living experience complemented by world-class amenities. Guests and residents will enjoy access to a signature restaurant, an outdoor pool and bar, a state-of-the-art gym, a serene spa, and lush landscaped gardens, ensuring a tranquil yet vibrant atmosphere.

The project forms part of the Casona 333 complex, a historic structure dating back to 1903 that has been meticulously restored. The complex will house the resort’s grand reception area, dining spaces, a charming boulangerie, a stylish bar, an elegant piano lounge, and dedicated venues for private events—blending classic heritage with modern indulgence.

A Visionary Collaboration in Hospitality

The project is spearheaded by Designia, a renowned real estate developer specializing in high-end projects across southeastern Mexico. Meanwhile, The Palace Company’s founder and CEO, José Chapur Zahoul, has played a pivotal role in shaping the region’s hospitality landscape. His contributions include the recent launch of Avani Cancún, further strengthening Mexico’s luxury travel sector.

Currently, Minor Hotels operates 18 properties across Mexico and Cuba, managing renowned brands such as NH Collection, NH, and Avani. Notable properties include NH Collection Mérida Paseo Montejo and Avani Cancún, both of which reflect the company’s dedication to premium hospitality experiences.

Tivoli’s Global Expansion Continues

Established in 1933 in Portugal, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts has steadily grown its footprint beyond its European roots. Recent expansions have introduced the brand to Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands, with further plans underway for Europe, the Middle East, and South America.

In April 2023, Minor Hotels also announced an ambitious expansion of its Avani brand, introducing seven new properties across Europe and Latin America. The European locations span Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy, solidifying the company’s strategic growth in key global markets.

With Tivoli Mérida Residences, Minor Hotels is set to elevate luxury hospitality in Mexico, offering a refined yet culturally immersive experience that blends history with contemporary sophistication.
