Brisbane Airport sets new records, surpassing pre-COVID passenger levels with its busiest months ever in December 2024 and January 2025.

Brisbane Airport Surpasses Pre-COVID Passenger Levels with Record-Breaking Growth

Brisbane Airport (BNE) has officially bounced back to pre-pandemic levels, with international passenger numbers soaring beyond expectations. The airport’s international terminal saw its two busiest months on record in December 2024 and January 2025, marking a full recovery and setting new benchmarks for travel activity.

December witnessed an impressive 631,700 international travelers passing through the terminal, surpassing the previous peak of 620,000 recorded in January 2020. However, this milestone was short-lived, as January 2025 shattered records once again with 638,800 international passengers—solidifying Brisbane’s resurgence as a global travel hub.

In January alone, international travel at Brisbane Airport reached 109% of pre-pandemic levels, while domestic passenger traffic hit 104% compared to pre-COVID figures. This remarkable recovery has been fueled by the introduction of new international routes, including American Airlines’ service to Dallas-Fort Worth, Delta Air Lines’ connection to Los Angeles, Jetstar’s flights to Bangkok, and Qantas’ expansions to Manila and Palau.

Additionally, major airlines such as United Airlines, China Eastern, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas have ramped up capacity on existing routes to meet growing demand.

Brisbane’s top five international destinations for January 2025 were Auckland, Singapore, Dubai, Bali, and Tokyo—further highlighting the airport’s strategic importance in the Asia-Pacific region.

With strong demand and expanding connectivity, Brisbane Airport continues to strengthen its position as a key gateway for global travelers.
