Emirates Embraces the Spirit of Ramadan with Special Services for Fasting Passengers

During the Holy Month of Ramadan, Emirates is celebrating the spirit of unity and generosity by offering an array of special services for fasting passengers both onboard and at boarding gates. Passengers can expect thoughtfully crafted meal boxes, exclusive Ramadan-themed content on the ice entertainment system, and traditional dishes in the lounges, ensuring a culturally rich and comfortable travel experience.

Traditional Ramadan Delicacies in Emirates Lounges

At Dubai International Airport (DXB), Emirates Lounges will offer a selection of authentic Arabic sweets, dates, and traditional coffee during Ramadan. In the First and Business Class lounges, passengers can enjoy an array of hot and cold Arabic mezze, lentil soup, Arabic mixed grill with tahina, lamb mandi with dakous and coriander mint raita, chicken machboos accompanied by cucumber yoghurt sauce, and a variety of desserts including pistachio kunafa, halawet al jibn, esh bulbul with lotus, basboussa ashta, cheese kunafa, walnut kathayef, and chocolate baklava. Additionally, homemade Arabic coffee, dates ice cream, and baklawa ice cream will be served, along with classic beverages like jallab and laban. Emirates Lounges in Cairo and Jeddah will also provide an extensive selection of Ramadan dishes.

To enhance the spiritual atmosphere, Emirates Lounges are equipped with dedicated prayer rooms and ablution facilities for worship.

Iftar Meal Boxes at Boarding Gates

At selected Emirates boarding gates during iftar time, fasting passengers will receive complimentary iftar boxes designed to help them break their fast comfortably. These boxes contain essentials such as water, laban, a banana, and dates, ensuring a thoughtful and convenient way to observe iftar before boarding.

Precise Iftar Announcements During Flights

Emirates utilizes a specialized tool to calculate precise timings for imsak (start of fasting) and iftar (end of fasting) while in-flight. This system determines the exact times of sunrise and sunset based on the aircraft’s location, including longitude, latitude, and altitude. Once the sun sets, the captain will make an official announcement, informing passengers of the iftar time.

Specially Crafted Ramadan Meal Boxes Onboard

Throughout Ramadan, passengers across all cabin classes traveling to select destinations will be offered specially designed Ramadan meal boxes. These bespoke boxes, inspired by traditional Islamic geometric designs, contain balanced meals including light bites like hummus or moutabel with Arabic bread, sweet treats such as almond chocolate, walnut baklawa, apricot balls, and traditional dates, along with main wraps featuring chicken zaatar and mozzarella or lamb shawarma and halloumi. These iftar meal boxes are served in addition to the standard hot meal service, ensuring a nourishing and fulfilling dining experience.

Supporting Passengers on Umrah Pilgrimage

Passengers traveling for Umrah to Jeddah and Medina will receive Ramadan meal boxes during their journey. Additionally, Emirates allows each passenger to check in one bottle of Islamic holy water ‘ZAMZAM’ containing up to 5 liters at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and airports across Saudi Arabia.

Exclusive Ramadan Entertainment on ice

During Ramadan, Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system will showcase a selection of religious programs, including titles such as Hadi Al Nabi, Kalimat Fi Hob Al Rasool, Kheir Qodwa, Maqased Su’ar Al Qur’an, and Nafhat in Arabic. Urdu-speaking passengers can enjoy Ramadan Ki Fazilat and Ramadan Bakhshish Ka Saman. The Holy Qur’an is also available on ice.

Additionally, popular series and dramas such as Sadaf, Dawaay Al Safar, and Al Uqda will be featured, alongside the Hikmat Wehbi Podcast. With over 6500 channels of on-demand entertainment, including 450 channels of movies and TV shows in Arabic and 400 channels of Arabic music and podcasts, Emirates ensures an engaging and culturally enriching in-flight experience.

Comprehensive Ramadan Awareness Training for Staff

Emirates has implemented specialized Ramadan awareness training for its cabin crew and ground staff in Dubai and across its network. This training equips teams with a deep understanding of the cultural significance of Ramadan, including specific practices observed by Muslim passengers. By fostering cultural sensitivity and awareness, Emirates ensures that its staff can provide the highest levels of service and support to customers during this special time of year.
