Philadelphia’s hospitality sector experienced a significant boost following the Philadelphia Eagles’ triumph at Super Bowl LIX and the subsequent citywide celebrations. The combined efforts of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB), Visit Philadelphia®, and the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association (GPHA) highlighted a surge in hotel activity across the city. From Thursday, February 13 to Saturday, February 15, Center City hotels sold over 11,000 rooms, generating an impressive $4.3 million in revenue. This represents a notable increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Key Hotel Performance Highlights:
- Occupancy: 90%, a remarkable 37-point rise from 2024
- Demand: 11,089 hotel rooms sold, up 71% from last year
- Revenue: $4.3 million, marking a 164% increase
The positive results also showed a significant leap from the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII win in 2018, with hotel demand rising by 24% and room revenue climbing nearly 42% following the celebrations of that year.
In addition to the Eagles’ Super Bowl success, Center City hotels also benefited from key events such as the NeighborWorks America convention, which ran from February 9 to 14, contributing to heightened occupancy levels. Furthermore, Valentine’s Day and the extended weekend further drove hotel bookings, making it one of the busiest times for the city’s hospitality sector.
During the Eagles’ three postseason home games in January, including matchups against the Green Bay Packers (January 12), Los Angeles Rams (January 19), and Washington Commanders (January 26), hotel revenues also showed marked improvement. Hotel room revenue topped $2.7 million, a 37% increase from the previous year, with occupancy rising by 60%, reflecting a 12-point increase compared to the same weekends in 2024.
The surge in hotel performance underscores the close relationship between major sports events and tourism in Philadelphia. The Eagles’ 2024-2025 season demonstrated how successful teams can transform a city into a vibrant destination, attracting fans and boosting local businesses. As visitors flock to Philadelphia to join in the excitement, hotels, restaurants, and other businesses across the region all reap the benefits of increased bookings and spending, solidifying the city as a top destination for tourists.
