Sound Transit has announced a temporary suspension of Link light rail service between Capitol Hill and SODO stations on Sunday, February 23, 2025, to allow for pre-scheduled maintenance.
During this time, Link Shuttle buses will operate every 10-15 minutes to help passengers travel between affected stations.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) supports routine transit maintenance projects to ensure the safety and efficiency of public transportation systems. According to Sound Transit’s official service notice, this planned suspension will allow crews to clean storm sewers, replace rail switches, and inspect fiber communications systems.
Shuttle Bus Service & Travel Adjustments
To minimize disruptions, Sound Transit will provide free Link Shuttle buses to replace light rail service between Capitol Hill and SODO stations.
These shuttles will stop at: Capitol Hill
Westlake
University Street
Pioneer Square
International District/Chinatown
SODO
Passengers traveling south from Capitol Hill must exit the train, board a shuttle bus, and reconnect with the Link light rail at SODO Station. Those traveling north through SODO will exit at SODO, take a shuttle to Capitol Hill, and continue their journey by train.

Sound Transit encourages passengers to plan ahead and consider other Seattle transit options, including:
