Ontario International Airport (ONT) officials have expressed enthusiasm over United Airlines’ latest expansion, introducing daily nonstop service connecting the Inland Empire with Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) starting in May 2025.

This new route will commence westbound on May 22, with the first eastbound departure following on May 23. The daily schedule includes a morning flight departing ONT at 7 a.m. Pacific Time, while the return leg from ORD is set for 7:55 p.m. Central Time. Designed with passenger convenience in mind, these flights will provide seamless access to United Airlines’ extensive global network, facilitating connections to over 180 destinations worldwide.

United Airlines will operate the route with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, featuring a three-class configuration with First Class, Economy Plus, and Economy seating, ensuring a comfortable experience for travelers.

The new Chicago service will enhance United’s presence at ONT, complementing the airline’s current nonstop routes to Denver, Houston, and San Francisco. The expansion reflects growing demand and solidifies ONT’s status as a vital hub for Southern California travelers seeking national and international connectivity.

ONT continues to experience remarkable growth, welcoming more than 7 million passengers in 2024—an impressive 27% increase from pre-pandemic 2019 levels and a staggering 67% rise since 2016 when the airport transitioned to local ownership from the City of Los Angeles. As one of California’s fastest-growing medium- and large-sized airports, Ontario International Airport remains a key player in the region’s aviation landscape.
