The Arts Societies Costa del Sol and Nerja are set to embark on a journey along the historic Silk Road next week as they host the author of “Unravelling the Silk Road.” The author, born in Turkey and having spent his childhood in both Turkey and Beirut, pursued media and journalism studies at Leicester University. Following his education, he moved to Khiva, a desert oasis in Uzbekistan, where he established a UNESCO workshop aimed at reviving 15th-century carpet designs and embroideries. After penning his first book, “A Carpet Ride to Khiva,” he spent several years living in the Pamir Mountains in Tajikistan and then in Kyrgyzstan.

The author will share his experiences and insights from his latest book with the Costa del Sol Arts Society at the Salon Varietés theatre in Fuengirola on Monday, 10 February, at 4:30 PM.
