Madeira is set to enhance its accessibility for UK travellers in 2025 with expanded flight options and new attractions. This winter, British Airways and Jet2 have reinstated previously suspended routes, while Jet2 has also introduced a brand-new service from Liverpool. In addition to improved connectivity, visitors can look forward to the launch of the Romanticism Museum, which highlights the island’s rich 19th-century history, and the debut of a new luxury property, The Editory by the Sea Funchal.

British Airways has resumed flights between London Gatwick (LGW) and Funchal (FNC), replacing the former London Heathrow (LHR) route that had been on hold since March 2020. Meanwhile, Jet2 has restarted its weekly Belfast (BFS) to Funchal service, last available in November 2019, and has introduced a new weekly flight from Liverpool.

With these developments, Madeira continues to strengthen its air links, providing UK travellers with greater flexibility and easier access to its breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and inviting year-round climate.

For more information or to secure flight reservations, travellers can visit the official websites of the respective airlines.

A fascinating addition to Madeira’s cultural landscape is set to debut in 2025 with the opening of the Romanticism Museum. Situated at Quinta dos Jardins do Imperador in Monte, this museum will bring to life the island’s 19th-century heritage, exploring its early tourism era and the prominent visitors who shaped its history. It will also highlight the distinctive influence of European Romantic culture in Madeira. A key feature of the museum is its scientific initiative to recreate an authentic 19th-century Madeira residence, reflecting the prevailing English aesthetic and the impact of the Wine Merchants and Madeira’s thriving wine trade.

Adding to the island’s luxury hospitality scene, The Editory by the Sea Funchal is poised to welcome guests in Madeira’s capital later this year. This five-star retreat will offer 98 sophisticated rooms, blending contemporary elegance with premium amenities and breathtaking views, promising an exceptional stay for visitors.
