At OTM Mumbai 2025, Asia-Pacific’s premier travel expo which took place from January 30 to February 1, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), together with Azerbaijan Airlines and 22 prestigious partners, showcased the nation’s allure to the Indian tourist sector. Held in Mumbai, this event is known for its role in bridging connections between international travel experts and the Indian market.

At their “Experience Azerbaijan” booth, ATB provided an immersive peek into the nation’s rich tapestry of history, culture, adventure, and upscale amenities. Visitors had the opportunity to savor traditional Azerbaijani confections, reflecting the nation’s rich gastronomic traditions, while discovering various travel options appealing specifically to Indian tourists. Activities ranging from skiing in the Caucasus Mountains to indulging in high-end wellness resorts, and enjoying the lively nightlife and historical sites of Baku, emphasize Azerbaijan’s appeal as a sophisticated, enjoyable, and family-friendly destination.

During the trade show, Javanshir Bayramov, the Deputy CEO of ATB, participated in a panel discussion titled “Winning the Indian Traveler: Strategies from Powerhouse Destinations,” where he offered strategic insights into the destination’s appeal.

The longstanding cultural and historical ties between Azerbaijan and India enhance its attractiveness to Indian visitors. With a history that spans over 5,000 years and its position on the ancient Great Silk Road, Azerbaijan has evolved as a cultural hub. The Ateshgah Fire Temple, with its eternal flames and Sanskrit inscriptions left by Hindu merchants in the 19th century, is a highlight for tourists.

Azerbaijan not only prides itself on its historical depth but also offers a welcoming atmosphere for families, focusing on immersive cultural experiences, effortless travel arrangements, and tailored hospitality.

Azerbaijan’s role as a top global event and tourism destination is also highlighted by its state-of-the-art infrastructure, which includes the Skytrax 5-star-rated Baku International Airport, renowned hotel chains, and iconic buildings like the Flame Towers, Heydar Aliyev Centre, and Baku Congress Centre. The recent hosting of COP29 further reinforced its status as a leader in the business events sector.

To cater to the rising number of Indian visitors, Azerbaijan provides 14 direct flights each week from Delhi and Mumbai to Baku via Azerbaijan Airlines and IndiGo. Additionally, Indian travelers can obtain an e-VISA within three days through evisa.gov.az, with an urgent visa option available that is processed within 3 to 5 hours, facilitating a smooth travel experience.
