airBaltic

airBaltic’s new mobile app, launched in July 2024, has doubled bookings, boosted revenue, and enhanced the travel experience for over 409,000 users.

The Latvian airline airBaltic is celebrating the remarkable success of its new mobile app, introduced in July 2024 as an upgraded version of its previous platform. Designed to streamline the passenger experience, the app has significantly increased engagement and revenue in just six months since its launch.

Exponential Growth in Bookings and Ancillary Revenue

The new app has played a pivotal role in driving direct bookings, doubling its share of transactions made via the airline’s website. In the first half of 2024, when the old app was still active, mobile bookings accounted for just 7% of the airline’s total reservations. This figure soared to 14% in the latter half of the year, demonstrating the app’s impact on customer behavior. Additionally, ancillary revenue surged by an impressive 122%, as passengers increasingly used the app to purchase add-ons such as extra baggage, preferred seating, meal pre-orders, and other services.

Māris Rudens, Head of Marketing Loyalty, Customer experience, and Partnership at airBaltic: “We are pleased with the outstanding results the new airBaltic mobile app has achieved in just six months since its launch. This remarkable growth underscores our commitment to innovation and enhancing the customer experience. We remain committed to further developing this platform to deliver an even better experience for our customers in the future. We invite everyone to download the new airBaltic mobile app, join the airBaltic Club, and enjoy the benefits and improved travel experience when flying with us.”

Growing User Base and High Engagement

Within its first six months, the app attracted 409,000 unique users, reinforcing its role as an essential tool for airBaltic travelers. Features like the interactive Shake & Win campaigns have played a crucial part in boosting engagement. Notably, the airline’s latest campaign, launched in celebration of airBaltic’s 29th anniversary, set new records for customer interaction.

Industry Recognition and Top-Ranked Performance

The mobile app has not only gained traction among travelers but has also received industry recognition, securing the top position in the free category of the Apple App Store in Latvia. Among the most frequently booked routes through the app are key regional connections, including Vilnius-Riga, Tallinn-Riga, and Helsinki-Riga.

Enhanced User Experience and Travel Convenience

Available for both iOS and Android users, the redesigned app offers an array of features aimed at making air travel more seamless. Passengers can conveniently access all upcoming flight details in one place, ensuring a hassle-free journey. Digital boarding passes are now integrated into the app, simplifying the boarding process, while timely push notifications provide real-time updates on flight-related information, such as check-in openings and important travel alerts.

Strengthened airBaltic Club Features

The app also brings a revamped airBaltic Club section, allowing members to efficiently manage their loyalty points. Users can track point balances, view membership benefits, and monitor their progress toward elite status. Additionally, travelers can manually add reservations if their loyalty membership number was not included at the time of booking, ensuring a seamless rewards experience.

Expanding Connectivity Across Regions

As airBaltic continues to expand its network, the airline currently operates over 130 routes from key hubs, including Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere, and seasonal services from Gran Canaria. The carrier connects passengers to a diverse array of destinations spanning Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.

With the rapid adoption of its mobile app and a commitment to enhancing digital solutions, airBaltic remains at the forefront of innovation, making travel more accessible, efficient, and rewarding for its customers.
