The Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) recently honored two remarkable individuals whose perseverance and dedication exemplify the life-changing impact of India’s skill development initiatives. The recognition ceremony took place at Park Plaza, Gurugram, in the esteemed presence of Mr. K.B. Kachru, Senior Governing Body Member of THSC, and Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO of THSC.
The distinguished achievers, Mr. Atul Bhagwant from Buldhana, Maharashtra, and Ms. Rumi Sultana Choudhary from Kohima, Nagaland, were chosen to represent India’s skill development landscape at the grand 26th January Republic Day Parade and associated ministerial events. Their inspiring journeys showcase the transformative potential of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and PMKVY 4.0.
Mr. Atul Bhagwant emerged as a standout candidate under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in the Washerman trade, surpassing a competitive pool of 10 lakh aspirants across 18 trades. His dedication and expertise secured him a place among the top three representatives chosen from this vast ecosystem to highlight India’s evolving vocational training framework.
Ms. Rumi Sultana Choudhary, trained under PMKVY 4.0 in the Street Food Vendor category, has successfully turned her aspirations into reality by launching a thriving tiffin service business in Kohima, Nagaland. Her entrepreneurial success reflects the effectiveness of PMKVY in fostering self-reliance, equipping individuals with practical skills, and empowering them to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. K.B. Kachru, Senior Governing Body Member, THSC,
expressed his admiration for the achievers, stating, “Atul and Rumi represent the true
spirit of India’s skilling revolution. Their inspiring journeys underline the critical role of
programs like PM Vishwakarma and PMKVY in transforming lives and empowering
individuals to achieve their dreams. It is a moment of great pride for THSC to recognize
their remarkable accomplishments.”
