The 45th edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2025) will officially commence on Wednesday, January 22, inaugurated by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia at IFEMA Madrid.

As the world’s most prominent tourism showcase, Fitur 2025 will host representatives from 156 countries and 9,500 companies, with attendance expected to reach 250,000, matching last year’s record.

This event, supported by Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, highlights the nation’s commitment to promoting sustainable and inclusive tourism.

A Global Platform for Tourism Innovation
This year’s Fitur introduces several novelties, including a 10% increase in exhibitors, the participation of 11 new countries from Africa and Asia, and an economic impact of approximately €445 million for Madrid’s hospitality, transport, and leisure sectors.

Brazil takes center stage as the official partner country, showcasing its cultural and natural heritage in an innovative exhibit located in Pavilion 3.

The fair will also emphasize sustainability through thematic spaces such as FiturNext, Fitur Cruises, and Fitur Sports, highlighting tourism’s role in driving positive environmental and social change.

Ibiza’s Strategy for Year-Round Tourism
The Consell de Ibiza will leverage Fitur 2025 to position the island as a premier sports destination, targeting domestic visitors during off-peak months.

According to Vicent Marí, President of the Consell, this strategy is designed to reduce the seasonality of Ibiza’s tourism by promoting sporting events and cultural activities throughout the year.

Located in Pavilion 9, Ibiza’s 300 m² stand will showcase its diverse offerings in sports, culture, and gastronomy.

The island’s central event is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, at the Movistar Arena in Madrid, featuring cycling legends Alberto Contador and Miguel Indurain, who will discuss their experiences exploring Ibiza as a sports destination.

The government of the Balearic Islands supports Ibiza’s efforts to create a sustainable tourism model, with initiatives that enhance local communities and extend economic benefits beyond the traditional summer season.

Sports tourism, combined with cultural and culinary experiences, forms the backbone of this strategy.

A Commitment to Sustainability
Aligned with Spain’s national tourism strategy, Fitur 2025 continues to prioritize sustainability.

The fair will measure its carbon footprint, including indirect emissions, and present innovative solutions for eco-friendly tourism.

Special exhibits like FiturNext aim to inspire actionable steps toward reducing tourism’s environmental impact while fostering community development.

Fitur 2025, organized in collaboration with Spain’s Ministry of Ecological Transition, underscores the importance of balancing economic growth with sustainability, setting a benchmark for global tourism events.
