Sarawak has become a global pioneer by unveiling the AI.LEGACY Intelligent Impact Management System, the world’s first platform designed to monitor, measure, and report the legacies of business events.
The announcement was made by the Sarawak Government, in collaboration with BESarawak and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). This innovation aligns with Sarawak’s commitment to sustainable development and its Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030.
The AI.LEGACY system uses advanced artificial intelligence to address four key objectives:
- Tracking real-time impacts of business events.
- Empowering event planners with data-driven insights for informed decision-making.
- Collecting, analyzing, and managing event data through automation.
- Positioning Sarawak as the legacy capital for business events in Malaysia and Borneo.
“This marks a historic achievement for Sarawak,” said The Hon. Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak. “AI.LEGACY is fully developed locally, and it exemplifies our dedication to leveraging innovation for societal and economic growth.”
The system also plays a crucial role in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals by ensuring a broader focus on the social, cultural, and environmental impacts of events, beyond traditional economic metrics. AI.LEGACY allows event planners to validate their contributions with automated reports, improving access to support such as funding and endorsements.
Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, emphasized that AI.LEGACY simplifies legacy planning through real-time insights, addressing a global challenge in the business events sector. Prof. Dr. Lo May Chiun, the project leader from UNIMAS, highlighted its potential to unlock benefits for multiple industries, facilitating an understanding of both economic and non-economic impacts.
In addition to its data management features, AI.LEGACY offers a one-stop portal for legacy clinic bookings and applications, including entries for the Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards 2025. The system will officially launch in Q3 2025, marking a new era in legacy management and sustainability for Sarawak’s business events sector.
