Syros’s journey toward sustainability has deep roots. The island was the birthplace of the Enfield 8000, the world’s first electric vehicle, introduced in 1973 during the oil crisis. In 2023, the Αειforever sustainability festival was launched by KEPEA in partnership with the Municipality. This event promotes environmental education and celebrates sustainable practices. In 2024, the Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF) collaborated with local artists and organizations to organize workshops and activities under the “My Plastic and Me” project, furthering community engagement.
