Emirates airline has swiftly banned pagers and walkie-talkies on all flights, following a series of recent attacks linked to Hezbollah. In an announcement on Friday, Emirates confirmed that passengers flying to, from, or through Dubai are now prohibited from carrying these devices in both checked and cabin baggage.

“If these items are found in hand luggage or checked baggage, Dubai Police will confiscate them,” Emirates warned in its statement.

This urgent decision follows a wave of shocking incidents in Lebanon, where thousands of pagers exploded simultaneously, causing widespread chaos. Soon after, walkie-talkies detonated in a similar fashion. Lebanese officials have blamed Israel for these coordinated attacks, which have taken the lives of at least 37 people, including children, and left nearly 3,000 injured.

A Lebanese security source revealed the disturbing detail that explosive material was hidden within the lithium batteries of the pagers, making it almost impossible to detect. In response, Emirates is acting decisively to ensure passenger safety, as the risk posed by these devices becomes clearer.

Alongside this new ban, Emirates confirmed it will resume flights to Amman, Jordan, starting Sunday. However, the airline announced that flights to and from Beirut will remain canceled through October 15, as a further precaution. Passengers who are transiting through Dubai with Beirut as their destination will not be allowed to travel from their point of origin until further notice.

Flights to Iraq and Iran will also stay suspended until at least Monday. Several other airlines in the region have followed suit, canceling flights to Beirut and other destinations as safety concerns continue to rise.

Tensions in the region spiked over the weekend, as Israeli fighter jets launched major airstrikes on southern Beirut. The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed they were targeting Hezbollah’s infrastructure and issued warnings for residents to evacuate before the strikes hit.

Since September 23, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have killed more than 1,110 people and displaced over a million. Amid the bombings, reports suggest that senior Hezbollah figure Hashem Safieddine is missing, with no communication from him since the attacks began.

Emirates’ decision to ban these devices and suspend certain flights highlights its commitment to ensuring passenger safety during this volatile time. With the situation still unfolding, passengers are being advised to stay updated on flight statuses and adhere to the new regulations in place.
