Edinburgh Airport is set to undergo significant enhancements, with an expanded BrewDog bar and a brand-new Sainsbury’s store among the highlights for passengers.
BrewDog, which opened its inaugural airport bar at Edinburgh in 2019, will relocate to a larger space due to its overwhelming success. The new venue will feature an extended food menu and additional beer taps, taking over the unit near gate 11 currently occupied by Hudson St Grill. Meanwhile, the existing BrewDog location will be transformed into the Icons sports bar.
Sainsbury’s will introduce its first airport store at Edinburgh, complete with an in-store bakery. The new shop will replace M&S Simply Food, which closed on October 1, offering passengers a fresh retail experience before passing through security.
These updates are part of a broader overhaul of Edinburgh Airport’s dining, drinking, and shopping options, enhancing the experience at Scotland’s busiest airport, now under the management of VINCI Airports, which operates over 70 airports globally.
Additional developments include the opening of a Pizza Express in departures and Seoul Bird, a Korean fried chicken eatery, making its Scottish and airport debut.
Edinburgh Airport staff will work diligently to minimize passenger disruption throughout the renovations in the coming months.
Gail Taylor, Chief Commercial Officer (non-Aero) at Edinburgh Airport said:
“We’re always looking to provide the very best choice to our passengers and meet the demand for the things they want, whether it’s a drink to toast that trip away or some essentials after they return from their break.
“Our BrewDog bar has been a huge success since opening at the airport five years ago, so seeing it move into a larger unit and expanding its offering was always going to be a popular option. This is one of several changes people will see in the coming months, and we’re sure the arrival of Sainsbury’s – one of the UK’s top supermarket chains – will also go down well with our passengers.
“Add to this the arrivals of Pizza Express, Seoul Bird and Icons, there is a lot to look forward to. We’d like to thank passengers for their patience while work to make these changes is ongoing.”
