As World Tourism Day commences, Destination Think is excited to launch “100 Travel Innovations,” an influential worldwide initiative formed in collaboration with international destinations. This campaign highlights the impactful outcomes of global cooperation in tackling significant environmental, economic, and social issues.

The initiative is presented as a digital mosaic and features inventive contributions from over 35 nations across six continents, including the urban paths of Copenhagen, the rural highlands of the Cook Islands, New Zealand’s mountainous regions, Colorado’s star-filled skies, and the traditional Indigenous territories of Vancouver Island. This aggregation aims to elevate and spread current innovations, fostering inspiration and promoting substantial advancements in sustainable tourism and environmental conservation.

“Tourism is uniquely positioned to connect people, foster new perspectives and lead by example,” said Rodney Payne, CEO of Destination Think. “This program is a step toward fulfilling that responsibility, showing how innovation in tourism can shape a better world.”

Today marks the debut of the inaugural 100 initiatives aimed at enhancing biodiversity, climate adaptability, cultural conservation, community wealth, equality, modernization, sustainable tourism, and employment opportunities. This dynamic collection will expand with additional pragmatic examples that encourage individuals to adopt more eco-conscious travel decisions or impactful modifications in their daily lives.

The selection of 100 Travel Innovations was meticulously curated by the editorial team at Destination Think, in partnership with visionary destination management organizations worldwide. Professor Todd Montgomery from Oregon State University, who also serves as the director of the Sustainable Tourism Lab, provided guidance throughout this selection process.

In conjunction with the unveiling of 100 Travel Innovations, Destination Think will host the 24 Hours of Travel Innovation. This no-cost virtual event will showcase talks from leading figures in the tourism innovation sector and will feature the premiere of a documentary that highlights the crucial role of the tourism industry in fostering global advancement through cooperative efforts.
