China has announced visa-free entry for Slovenian citizens in a move to deepen diplomatic relations between the two nations. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the announcement during a meeting with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, in New York on Wednesday.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called the visa-free policy “good news” for both countries, highlighting its potential to boost people-to-people exchanges and strengthen mutual trust between China and Slovenia.

Fajon expressed her gratitude, calling it a “positive step” that will facilitate travel, cultural exchange, and bolster economic and trade ties.

Strengthening Multilateral Cooperation

Wang Yi acknowledged Slovenia’s key role within the European Union and extended China’s support for Slovenia’s rotating chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council. He emphasized China’s commitment to upholding multilateralism, UN authority, and contributing to international peace.

Fajon noted Slovenia’s readiness to collaborate closely with China during its Security Council tenure, particularly on global issues like the Ukraine crisis and Gaza conflict, underscoring a shared focus on peace and security.
