Bangkok, September 24, 2024 – Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, Han Zhiqiang, delivered a heartfelt speech at a reception commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on the evening of September 24, 2024. The event saw over 2,000 attendees, including prominent figures such as Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, President of the Thai National Assembly Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, and several vice premiers and assembly presidents.
During his address, Han Zhiqiang reflected on the recent third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, highlighting China’s achievements since its founding. He noted the country’s ongoing progress, innovation, and its increasingly positive image on the global stage. Han emphasized that China’s high-quality development offers valuable opportunities for Thailand.
Since 2023, China’s economy has shown signs of recovery, with GDP surpassing 125 trillion yuan and contributing over 30% to global economic growth. The surge in investments by Chinese enterprises in Thailand is evident, with more than 850 Chinese companies registered at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand. This influx has bolstered Thailand’s export capabilities, increased foreign exchange earnings, tax revenues, and job opportunities. Han expressed optimism that China’s economic recovery will continue into 2024, creating new avenues for Thailand’s own economic resurgence and contributing to global economic growth.
The ambassador further underscored the deep-rooted ties between China and Thailand, describing the two nations as “good neighbors linked by mountains and rivers” and “close relatives sharing blood ties.” He noted that mutual support over the past three years has strengthened the enduring friendship between the two countries. With the recent implementation of visa exemption policies, exchanges in various sectors have deepened, enhancing cooperation in tourism, law enforcement, and trade—important milestones for regional integration.
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. Han expressed his commitment to collaborating with all sectors in Thailand to foster stable development, safeguard peace, and elevate bilateral relations to new heights, benefiting both nations.
In his remarks, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, President of the Thai National Assembly, acknowledged the impressive development China has achieved under the leadership of the Communist Party. He noted that the bilateral relationship has grown stronger, establishing a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand values China’s support and assistance. With the introduction of visa-free access on March 1 of this year, Thailand looks forward to expanding cooperation with China and working closely with the Chinese Embassy to promote sustainable development in their bilateral relations.
Wan extended his best wishes on the occasion of the 75th anniversary, expressing hopes for prosperity and strength for the Chinese people. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with China to enhance stability in East Asia and jointly promote regional development.
